Shaping identity in the workshops of potters of San Juan de Oriente
Abstract
This article makes a general outline on the production of ceramic designs that shape the cultural identity of San Juan de Oriente, Masaya, considering that their material culture, is the result of the inheritance transmitted by generations at the time and has been subjected to models alienating and correlated to the phenomenon of globalization whose tendency has penetrated the local socio-cultural order, motivating a variability in the shape and content of elaborate designs ceramic. The results exposed in a synthesized manner the current situation on the pottery production in the workshops against the market system that prevails today, as the start-up of a ceramic catalog that has practical utility because it collects a visual record of morphological and decorative designs of pre-Hispanic origin that contribute to the revitalization of the ceramic art of its creators through the teaching of values and knowledge of their culture contributing in this way to strengthening its identity.
