Abstract

This article describes the current situation of global plastic pollution, especially the impact that these pollutants cause to marine ecosystems and in turn discloses the findings of a study conducted by CIRA / UNAN-Managua of microplastics pollution on the coasts of the bay in San Juan del Sur. Plastic pollution is an issue that is taking a lot of relevance for some years, the large accumulations of plastic waste in the oceans are evidence of the inadequate disposal of this material, this mainly affects marine ecosystems causing effects such as transport of pollutants in the middle, alterations in food and blocks in the digestive tract that can cause physical injury or even death in many marine species.
