The university system led by the Nicaraguan Council of Universities (CNU) is seeking to integrate the three substantive dimensions of universities such as: teaching, research and extension. This process underway and the authorities responsible for the extension function performed debates and meetings to build consensus and indicators such extension function. An agreement to integrate organizational methodology is not a process overnight, consensus and participation is required. Moreover, the government is pushing the university system to align their work to the national human development plan PNDH in the pursuit of social relevance of that function in a changing and globalizing world.
