Anthropological perspective: Loki, the notion of evil in Norse mythology

Abstract

This essay aims to show the vision of evil in Norse mythology symbolized in the figure of Loki, a character not identified with any historical person, but with a great presence in the Norse and Germanic Eddas. The objective of this work is to relate the character of Loki with the spirit of evil given his actions and the consequences of these both for his victims and for those close to him and the presence that this spirit impacts on human reality and to reveal the origin of evil. that, although it is a reality, in mythological representations plays an important role and the consequences that the evil personified in Loki has in the Norse mythological world ends up achieving the final destruction of the Scandinavian mythical world and, on the other hand, as the relationship With the figure of human misery it generates the appearance of figures that are the executors of the actions that lead to total destruction. It is very important to point out the role of Angrboda who is a victim of his environment but who in the encounter with Loki, evil, generates elements of destruction.
