Abstract

The uncontrolled growth of human settlements brings with it negative impacts on the environment and the sustainable development of localities, which is why this study aims to make a proposal for land use planning through Ecological Economic Zoning with a focus on Disaster Risk Management in District II of Managua. This in order to demonstrate that the uncontrolled growth of the same produces low development and disaster risk in the most vulnerable areas, through the application of the Regulation of Ecological Economic Zoning of Peru ZEE, which consists of Characterizing, Evaluating and Categorizing an Ecological Economic Unit UEE (Unidad Los Tubos de ENACAL), previously selected and located in the city of Managua. This research has a mixed approach because the analysis and description of qualitative data such as the existence of physical and natural capital and risk context is carried out. It also incorporates the quantitative aspect, because the survey of numerical data records of infiltration in soils was carried out. The data collection techniques used were observation, semi-structured interviews and measurement; all the data collected made it possible to generate the characterization and evaluation of the area. The results obtained show that the current land use is inappropriate and generates low development and high risk of disasters related to natural phenomena.
Taking this into account, it is recommended to relocate the population settled in this Ecological Economic Unit Los Tubos de ENACAL, to safer areas, so that they have better living conditions. In addition, an environmentally friendly tourist circuit could be proposed in the areas near this EEU, as long as the pertinent studies are carried out and they are defined as risk-free contexts.
