UNAN-Managua and its comprehensive strategy to face COVID-19

Abstract

This paper offers an analysis of the integral strategy of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Nicaragua, Managua (UNAN-Managua) to counteract the -19 pandemic. The methodology used for this study was documentary research and content analysis, which involved the review, analysis and discussion of the issues addressed. The purpose is to explain the actions by previous, during and after stages conceived and implemented through the institutional protocol to face -19. First, the context of the coronavirus in global terms is described, so that it is posible to perceive the situation and the transformations that the different countries have adopted in a new normal. In this sense, as main results of this analysis the level of involvement of the university community is presented as a determining factor in the success of the strategy to combat the effects derived from the pandemic in the new world context. In the same way, the response capacity of the institution to manage the health situation from a holistic approach is addressed. Additionaly, the discursive strategies in the promotion of educational messages directed to the university community and population in general are described, which determines the strategic process of the university as part of its social commitment for the contribution of the countrys development. As a conclusion, UNAN-Managua has the organizational capacity installed to counteract effects in social vulnerability situations and new realities, through the strategy of integral educational diffusion from the approach of health, healthy eating, economy and information management.
