Abstract

Carlos Fonseca’s production of interpretative writings on Nicaraguan history during the 1960s and 1970s, based on Sandino’s political ideology, resulted in the re-reading of national history from a new and unprecedented perspective, of which Carlos Fonseca was the main exponent. The study of Sandino’s thought as a theoretical and documentary basis marks the beginning of an autochthonous historiography within the current of the New Latin American History. Carlos Fonseca is given the task of elaborating writings guided in the route of the construction of a new historiography of Marxist cut, from integral historical analyses sustained in the socioeconomic structure, class struggle and social inequality. From the work carried out by Carlos Fonseca since 1960, the year of his first writings, a solid documentary base is created on which a nascent autochthonous historiography of Sandinista roots is consolidated.
