Abstract

Objective to identify the strategic elements in the regulatory framework related to the protection and prevention of exposure to ionizing radiation in professionally exposed personnel in hospital radiology services. The documentary review methodology was used, examining everything legislated and regulated in this matter, of what was issued by the National Assembly, a Law, a Technical Standard and a Decree were examined. With reference to what is regulated by the Ministry of Health, a Policy, a Regulation and a Guide for Environmental and Social Management. In reference to these standards, the Radiology and Radioprotection program of the Pan American Health Organization, the IAEA project Competences of the Personnel of Regulatory Bodies in Medical and Industrial Radiological Applications and NTP 304: Ionizing Radiations: Protection Standards were reviewed. Spain. Concluding that the body of laws and regulations used in Nicaragua contain the legal, scientific, technical and administrative aspects required and established by international regulations on ionizing radiation.
