The Central American Network for Research in Critical Extension (RECIEC) is organized to generate a regional agenda to make possible the exchanges of teachers, students and community actors in the territories from the university extension. The objective of the diagnostic study is to establish the conditions under which extension actions and dialogues of knowledge can be carried out within the territories during the COVID-19 pandemic situation. The methodology used in the study is quantitative with a descriptive, cross-sectional and non-experimental design. The diagnosis made it possible to determine that each university has defined policies or guidelines for the development of extension activities in the new normality. The activity in the territories is currently carried out from a combined approach (face-to-face and virtual). The willingness of the actors of the university extension process to continue developing their activities in the territories is evident. For the physical return to the territories, the biosecurity measures must be assumed by the extension unit or each participant of the project. Similarly, it was determined that there is little or no information available on the number of extension teachers, students and actors in the territories that have been fully or partially vaccinated.
