Influence of the type of Information on the synthesis capacity of university students: an experimental study in the Economics major

This research examines the way in which the type of information presented influences the synthesis ability of university students studying economics at the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN Managua, FAREM Matagalpa). A three-stage experiment was carried out, involving first and fifth year students. In the first stage, a silent video was presented, in the second, a series of images, and in the third, an academic article. The results showed that students could synthesize visual information better than textual information. This suggests that visual presentation facilitates synthesis, while textual information presents greater challenges. This finding has important pedagogical implications for the development of synthesis skills in higher education.
