Characterization of prior knowledge and errors of functions.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the previous knowledge of the second-year students of Public Accounting and Finance in the subject of Mathematics 1, in the Unit of Functions, where a diagnosis was applied to 40 students. The characterization of the previous knowledge resulting from the diagnosis allowed the identification of difficulties, obstacles and the classification of frequent errors, both in diagrams and graphic representations. The diagnosis projected the successes, obstacles and errors that the students have on the conceptual basis of the functions. To improve the learning process of the functions, knowledge must be structured and associated in such a way that the concepts are related to each other as a whole.
