The worldview and territory in the cultures of the original peoples is a sacred symbiosis, which represents space with nature and astral phenomena, as an approach and interaction with the cosmic order, being a form of relationship between people. The need to carry out concrete actions, avoiding the deterioration of the biocultural heritage, and the promotion of the sustainable development of the territories, is increasingly imminent to collaborate in the eradication of poverty and revaluation of the patrimonial wealth and incentive of human talent. Therefore, this reflection shows the implementation of the biocultural approach of the municipality of Matagalpa, as an alternative model for territorial sustainable development within the framework of the National Creative Economy Strategy of Nicaragua. Covering main concepts of the biocultural system, its elements, cultural and natural landscapes, actors in the process and their link to the creative economy, successful Applications, Advances And Some Challenges.
